The company noted that Gmail will continue to highlight packages scheduled for delivery within 24 hours at the top of the inbox, while the new tab provides a centralized space for tracking all order information.

This update expands on Gmail’s package-tracking feature introduced in 2022, which lets users follow deliveries directly from their inbox without visiting a carrier’s website.

Google says the new feature will be particularly useful during the holiday season, citing PwC’s 2025 holiday outlook, which projects that 39% of holiday gift spending will occur within the five days between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. The “Purchases” tab is designed to help users manage and track these shipments more efficiently.

The feature begins rolling out today on both mobile and web for users with personal Google accounts worldwide.

In addition, Google announced an update to Gmail’s Promotions category, introducing a new option to sort emails by “most relevant.” This change aims to make it easier for users to spot deal updates from their favorite brands. Gmail will also provide reminders about upcoming discounts and time-sensitive offers.

The Promotions update is expected to roll out globally to personal account users on mobile in the coming weeks.

This announcement builds on Gmail’s recent update, which helps users organize their inbox by displaying all subscription emails together and allowing quick unsubscribes.
