China launch of iPhone Air delayed by Apple due to eSIM approval process.

According to Apple’s website, the three major Chinese carriers—China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom—will support eSIM on the iPhone Air, but the rollout will depend on regulatory clearance. Pre-orders for the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup will begin on Friday.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, Apple informed local media that it is working with authorities to introduce the iPhone Air in China “as soon as possible.” The outlet cited a Weibo post from China Mobile announcing that eSIM services had been enabled, though no release date was provided.

China Telecom also posted on RedNote about launching its eSIM service on September 19, coinciding with the iPhone 17 debut, but later deleted the post, SCMP noted.

Apple has not yet responded to requests for comment.
