It asserted that with a solid infrastructure base, innovative digital services, which can take advantage of the growing digital economy, the telecom sector can be further developed and expanded to all areas of the country, especially the unserved and underserved areas.

The President of the association, Tony Emoekpere, said, “There is a great need to develop, secure and enable further expansion of communication infrastructure in the country. With a solid infrastructure base, innovative digital services, which can take advantage of the growing digital economy can be further developed and expanded to all areas of the country, especially the unserved and underserved areas.”

He further stated that issues ranging from funding, security, and permits were still plaguing the industry. Highlighting critical areas the new minister needs to work on, he stated, “The creation of a special FX window for operators in the industry. Passing into act the critical National Infrastructure Bill. The implementation of the agreement on Right of Way, and multiple taxation/regulation.”

Emoekpere added that the success of the new minister would be the industry’s success and creating an industry think-tank team would help the new minister to fast-track growth and development in the sector.
